Salem Mission Neighborhood Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes
September 14, 2009

Committee members met on September 14th at 120 Washington St to discuss some of the issues involving the Salem Mission and the surrounding neighborhood. There were suggestions that the Committee could be a liaison to the Mission's board and open dialogue to help both the mission and the neighborhood communicate better. Below is a list of thoughts and idea's that the Committee spoke at during the first meeting.

Mark Cote talked about how he would like residents of the mission to do community service work with the city to help beautify some of the traffic islands. Speak to Ellen Talkowsky about this.

The Committee help the mission with hard core issues.  Work with the mission to help solve problems. Most of the people at mission are from Salem. Have a better understanding of what goes on at the mission.

How to educate the community.  Housing development, what happens to people who continue to live on the street?  Have regional mechanisms in place?

Speak to Beth Rennard about ordinance regarding the sale of nips of alcohol from package stores.

Speak with Tom St. Pierre about ordinance pertaining to the thrift shop putting clothes out on sidewalk.
